  1. I bought this seat for my 4 yr old when he outgrew his Cosco Summit Deluxe. At 4 he wasn’t ready for a booster so we went with this seat.

He turned 6 in Sept and still has about 6m or left in the harness of this seat. Then he will go to a booster full time.

This seat does have to have a headrest behind it, or 36″ tall seatbacks. This has never been an issue for us.

I have had no issues with this seat. My only complaint is that it is VERY wide. It doesn’t make a good booster for my tall, skinny son so we will not use it in booster mode. It is just to wide to fit him safely.

We bought this car seat after our child outgrew her Evenflo Triumph…which was wonderful and I was sad to see it put away.

After reading numerous reviews, both professional and by Apex owners, we decided to buy this car seat. First off, if something is not comfortable, my child will be the first to let you know. However, we have not one heard one complaint voiced about comfort with this seat – and we take long 3-hour car rides about every other month.

It fits our child well – 3 years – 34 pounds – and will have lots of space for growing. Tightens without much effort, installs rather easy, height adjusts easily, and overall is a very nice seat. We have had it for about

6 months now, and we like it so much that we are looking to get another for the grandparents car.

The only very minor complaint is that it is a little harder for our kid to reach a cup in the cupholder than with the Evenflo, but I guess that is to be expected since the seat is made for toddler size to big kid size. Again, a pretty minor complaint for a great seat overall.

I bought a pair of these seats (from Albee Baby for $89 each w/ free shipping) for my 3.5 yr old twin boys. At 40# they outgrew their other carseats, but I still wanted them in a 5-point restraint. Why is that so hard to find? Like the previous posters, I also had trouble with the crotch strap being way too short, causing the buckle to press on their thighs. However, I contacted Safety 1st customer service by email, and they sent me 2 new/longer strap assemblies, free of charge. The new crotch strap is about 1.5 inches longer, not much, but it does get the buckle up off their thighs. The shoulder straps are also longer, and that makes it easier to pull the tightening strap. Yes, the seats are wide & roomy. I am using them in the 2nd row chairs of a minivan, where they fit fine, but I can see how it would make seating tight for anyone else on a bench seat. Overall very pleased, and sad to see Albee sold out so I can’t get another set for our other vehicle.

A Britax this seat isn’t but for the money it is a decent seat. My 40 lb, 40 inch 2.5 year old can sit in it comfortably. I don’t know that she will make it to 65 lbs with the harness but there is a good bit of growing room left.

I bought this seat instead of the Graco Nautilus that has a similar weight harness. I wish that I had bought the Graco that I was able to see in person at the big mart store because this seat is way bigger. My 8 year old daughter sits in this and it looks like a mini lazy boy. I was hoping to down size from the big Britax car seat that my son was in but instead this is bigger. This seat is lighter weight wise but in size if you have a small car this would take up almost half the back seat, this seat is WIDE (and tall). I was able to get this for $50 less than I could find the Nautilus for, I don’t know if the Graco is worth the extra money or not. I didn’t think the Graco looked as nice as this but the size and quality seemed better.
